Cherished Moments

Some of our funnest times with Mom was when we would take her for walks at the Riverwalk in Logan. Nathan would get her going to fast sometimes and she would yell "Nathan, you slow down" Gidget would also go and I don't know who had the most fun, Gidget or Grandma. Grandma never liked dogs much but she grew to love Gidget. She would pet her and talk to her everyday. Gid would go into her room and just sit by her chair or bed. Grandma especially liked this walk because it is paved all along the river and the trees. Then we would go and get ice cream when we were done!

Living with Mom (or rather her living with us!)

Things are alot different here now that I am taking care of Mom. It is a bittersweet occasion for us. I love having her here! She can pretty much take care of herself, but her health is slowly going down hill. I take her to chemo every Monday and she usually does pretty good until Thurs and Fri. Bless her heart. She tries to be so strong but it makes her real sick. I always try to tell her things that helped me, and sometimes they help her and sometimes it would not help her at all. Some times the nausea gets so bad. It has sure brought back alot of my memories. It breaks my heart to see her in so much pain. I have had alot of fun shopping with her and taking her places. We will go for rides and just visit and laugh. I love this time with her when she feels good. In Sept she got really sick so I decided to take her in to the hosptial. She ended up staying for almost a week. They let her out 3 days before her 8oth Birthday. We had a birthday party down here for her and we all went to Golden Corral. We then came home and had cake and ice cream and the grand kids all came over. We really had a fun day with her. She enjoyed the day but got really tired. She really wants to go to Hawaii or Mexico. Finally she decided on Hawaii. We finalized it and are going in Nov. We are all so excited.

July 2010

Mom moved in with us in July. She was having alot of problems and after alot of appointments they found out that her breast cancer had came back. I was excited that she would be with us but not excited for her because of the treatments she would have to do. She went up to Dr. Ben-Jacob (my dr.) and immediately started her radiation and chemo. Alot of my time was with her now. Time I will always treasure.

Nathan was still in baseball, a sport that he has come to love!

Fathers Day 2010

We went up to Cedar Bay for Fathers Day and to work on the trailer some more. We got him a new filet knife and made dutch oven for him.

Family Reunion June 2010

Way to Long June 2010

It has been way to long since I have posted. My goal of writing every month and keeping a family diary did not go so well. I am going to try to back date and get the information in as best as I can. Alot has happened since June and I sure wish I would have kept up on it.

In June is was just busy with me finishing up my work at the phonebook and Nathan playing baseball. We also had our Harper Family Reunion and Fathers day. For Father Day we went up to Cedar Bay and spent the weekend there. We also bought a OLD trailer. It is a 30 foot 5th wheel. It was actually in pretty good condition so we just put new carpet and blinds in it, and Mike redid some of the water lines etc. We also bought a cute little couch that makes into a twin bed. It turned out really cute. It is really roomy so now we have a "home" or as I call it now "The Condo." When the kids went up and saw it they were surprised at how nice it turned out! Here are the before and after pictures. I will have to post the after pictures when I find them. Gotta love the bright orange carpet!!!!

Karli Graduation 2010

Another one bites the dust! This rainy spring we got Karli graduated. It is bitter sweet for me. On one hand I am excited for her and the new chapter that she is beginning. On the other hand I hate my babies to grow up and begin that chapter. She looked so pretty that night it brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud of her. We went to dinner after graduation with her boyfriend Brady and his parents to the Olive Garden. Then I hugged Karli and waved to her as she left for the all night party that they do after graduation. My heart ached for her to be gone from me! It is hard to let your babies grow up! I will quit my whining about it now. She is working at Village Inn as a hostess and really likes it. After a break this summer she is going back to cosmetology school. She does quite a few nails right now on the side and she does an awesome job.
